BOB SCHMIDT 1952 – 2012
__________________________________________________________________
Robert A. Schmidt died suddenly on January 5, 2012. He was highly regarded as an acoustics consultant and marketing and sales professional, as well as mentor to his colleagues at Acoustic Dimensions in New Rochelle, NY, where he worked since 2005. In that time, he proved an invaluable contributor to a wide variety of projects for the performing arts, education, corporate office facilities, broadcast, and a wide range of other building types.
Prior to his work at Acoustic Dimensions, Bob distinguished himself as a manufacturer’s representative with Vibration Products, Nyack, NY, which he joined following a very successful 25-year career at Industrial Acoustics Corporation, Bronx, NY, where he became Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. He had previously worked as a Technical Sales Engineer at American Air Filter Corporation in Louisville, KY. His broad experience included sales management, project management, applications engineering and acoustics consulting. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois with a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Bob was well respected throughout the architectural, engineering and construction communities for his knowledge of the design and construction process and his collaborative approach. He freely shared his expertise with others, and was a role model for all who worked with him in his generous and open approach to his work.
Acoustic Dimensions will miss his expertise, insights, and humor, and his leadership within our organization. We will all miss him personally as a friend and mentor.
