NBBJ is leading the design team for a planned $125 million renovation and expansion of Pauley Pavilion at UCLA. Pauley Pavilion, which opened in 1965, has a rich heritage given its role as the on-campus home court to the UCLA Bruins men’s basketball, gymnastics and volleyball programs. The campus landmark has served as the home court for 38 NCAA championship teams, hosted renowned entertainers including Frank Sinatra and Luciano Pavarotti, welcomed the world during the 1984 Olympics, hosted a 1988 presidential debate and staged commencement ceremonies for thousands of UCLA alumni. The planned renovation would add modern arena amenities and improve the fan experience.
Acoustic Dimensions was asked to provide consulting on the acoustics, audio and video considerations during the preliminary design phase. Our scope included review of previous AV and acoustic recommendations, participation in a kick-off meeting with the design team and facility walkthrough with the campus architect and presentation of a report indicating concepts required to allow the facility to adapt to future growth and technologies and AV budgets.
