A new addition to the Penn State University campus is a 1,000 seat auditorium that will serve both the campus and the community. The auditorium will present a broad range of programming including musicals, theatre, dance, commencements, seminars, large group meetings, etc. Because of the anticipated broad range of use, including performing arts presentations, the acoustical design elements of the auditorium were critical; adjustable acoustics elements were incorporated into the design.
The total square footage for the project was 60,000 sf, with just under 18,000 sf of assignable space for the performing arts component. The center features a large stage with wing space, an orchestra pit, dressing rooms, green room, etc. Support spaces include a lobby, box office, control rooms, equipment rooms for special equipment (amp rack room, dimmer room, etc.).
