The Briarwood Christian High School constructed a new gymnasium and converted the existing gymnasium into a fine arts auditorium. The plan included the addition of a flytower and modification to the existing roof, in order to provide sufficient volume in the Auditorium. The program of use is varied, but will focus on dance and cater to theatrical events.
AD provided full acoustics and a/v consulting services with input on the theatre related to auditorium design assistance and backstage planning. We worked closely with the design build mechanical contractor to re-use existing equipment and to develop a simple and inherently quiet HVAC air distribution system that was carefully coordinated with the design of the suspended ceiling elements at the catwalk level of the Auditorium.
We found the most cost-effective approach to be a series of simple retractable velour curtains. Curtain pockets were not provided, as the program did not require a very reverberant environment for any program uses.
