Calvary Christian Academy, a ministry of Calvary Chapel of Fort Lauderdale, built a new four-story discipleship building to be used for their secondary classrooms and elective programs. The state-of-the-art facility houses a 700-seat theatre with full fly space, black box theatre, dance studio, choir, band and orchestra rehearsal rooms and classrooms that are designed to be interactive and media-rich. The distinctive Christian education that a student of CCA receives provides them an advanced, college-preparatory curriculum and outstanding co-curricular opportunities to prepare them for the success, both academically and spiritually, after graduation.
AD designed the performance systems for most of the spaces in the new facility. The main theatre has two audio systems to allow for the best experience when used for dramatic performance and concerts, while remaining effective for lectures. The theatre is also equipped with automated rigging and theatrical lighting systems, as well as future planning for video projection systems. Video projection systems were needed in the classrooms and music rehearsal spaces. Audio requirements included a speaker system for use with video projection in the classrooms and basic audio playback systems in the dance and music rehearsal rooms. A pipe grid for theatrical lighting was integrated in the dance studio and black box theatre. The black box theatre was also designed with infrastructure distribution for AVL, keeping the space flexible with the ability to be easily reconfigured.
