Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts will renovate this privately owned public space on Manhattan’s upper west side and transform it into a creative, interdisciplinary public venue that informs, entertains and educates the public. The project is located at 61 West 62nd Street between Columbus Avenue and Broadway. The size is a total of 8,500 SF. (7,250 SF. 1st floor, 1,250 SF. 2nd floor mezzanine).
Although Lincoln Center will take over the programming of the site, it will remain open to the public. The atrium will remain in the ownership of the surrounding residential Co-op called “The Harmony”.
David Rubenstein Atrium will serve as a central information location for all 12 venues at Lincoln Center. Information will be provided by LC staff, brochures, via signage and video projections. A ticket office makes tickets for all venues available for same-day purchase and much reduced price. General seating in the main space is provided for small performances, lectures or community forums. The project includes a small retail space and a food service with seating area on the second floor with new public bathrooms.
Acoustic Dimensions provides design and engineering related to AV Systems, Telecom infrastructure, and Acoustics for the project.
