Toyota Park, home of the MLS Chicago Fire was designed to be both stadium and outdoor concert venue. The venue is designed with a permanent stage and can go from a soccer game to a live music event in about 8 hours. The multipurpose features don’t end with the stage. Toyota Park has three suites on each side of the stage that convert into dressing rooms.
Other unique features of the stadium include the center field entrance for the players, benches dug out into the first few rows of seats and the first row seats are less than 2½ feet above ground. For game days, the goal was to bring fans as close to the sport as possible making the stadium a fan favorite.
The Illinois Soccer Hall of Fame is housed in the stadium, as well as a soccer pub that is open to the public on off days.
Toyota Park received Midwest Construction's Best of 2006 Sports and Entertainment Award of Merit.
