Canyon Ridge Christian in Las Vegas, with its rapidly growing congregation, completed an expansion of its existing auditorium to more than double its original size. The church uses contemporary music, drama and relevant preaching as part of its worship and frequently hosts groups such as Jars of Clay, Jennifer Knapp, Shaun Groves and 4Him.
The church was influenced to make the investment in the new system before the expansion was complete. The existing system was not keeping up with the growing technical demands and expectations of a congregation based in Las Vegas, so they purchased a portion of the new system to serve as a stop gap. Left and right line arrays were installed in temporary locations, and subwoofers were added on either side of the stage. The final system will include additional speakers in the left and right arrays, both flown and ground-stacked subwoofers to evenly cover the room, and delay speakers for the back seats.
AD worked with the architect to improve the layout and functionality of the control booth, and with the creation of new audio and video production rooms. The existing projection screens were increased in size and changed to 16:9 widescreen format. Smaller projection screens were installed towards the rear of the room for people in these seats since there was not adequate space to sufficiently increase the size of the front screens.
AD provided guidance to the architect and engineers to ensure that the acoustics of the room and the mechanical systems also supported the worship services.
