Crossroads Community Cathedral is an Assembly of God church committed to reaching people who do not have a religious background or who have grown away from the local church. The congregation is widely diverse and uses a variety of styles within a single service, including small, weekly drama vignettes during their worship services. The church’s annual Easter production utilizes a cast of 400 and the six performances are sold out a month in advance. The congregation is encouraged not to attend the performances, but to pass the tickets on to co-workers and acquaintances. It is estimated that 75% of the audience has never attended the church.
Crossroads Community sought a space that supports their unique purpose-driven ministry. Their budget of $5.2 million, included the sanctuary with foyer and backstage area, administrative offices, choir and orchestra rehearsal spaces, classrooms and a basic A/V studio. The Church chose a pre-engineered structure steel structure to maximize their dollars. Within that space Acoustic Dimensions provided a room design that creates a sense of intimacy and connection.
Acoustic Dimensions provided acoustics, audio systems, video production, lighting and stage systems design throughout the facility. A large production room at the rear of the sanctuary overlooks the space and provides an ideal loft for technical direction and will serve as the audio and video production room when the Church expands their ministry to include image magnification. On the lower level is a rehearsal room that is large enough to support choir, band, and orchestra rehearsal. The room acoustics were carefully planned, as were the technical systems that connect this room to the other spaces.
