Faithbridge United Methodist Church wanted a multipurpose space that would primarily support their contemporary worship services but retain enough flexibility to be used for children’s events and athletics during the week.
Both the main floor and the balcony have stackable chairs. There is a curtained storage space under the balcony to house the chairs when the space is not being used for worship. The curtain that conceals the storage space also serves the purpose of providing acoustic absorption.
The church wanted an audio system that would create envelopment during worship, yet still maintain an intimate feel for speaking. To meet this need the loudspeaker system is a left/right configuration with left, center, right front fills. There are delay speakers to cover the far corners of the balcony. The control booths are portable, lockable rolltop desks that connect via floorboxes.
In order to keep the footprint of the stage small, all amplifiers were located in a room upstage. Monitors are primarily in-ear for the same reason.
There are two rear projection screens pulled in close to the stage with a third drop down screen at the rear of the room to serve as a front projection monitoring system for the worship team.
There are two house lighting systems. Flourescents for athletic events and a dimmable system of theatrical pars that are used during services. A scrim at the rear of the stage allows lighting to provide dramatic changes to the space through color. Electronic shades conceal the windows when needed.
