AD Scope: Auditorium Design, Acoustics,
Audio, Video and Lighting
One of the defining factors at Harvest is its sense of community. Acoustic Dimensions worked with HH Architects to create a design for the auditorium which would support this priority.
With a seat count of 3,000, a balcony was a natural choice to keep the footprint of the room small, but the challenge of a balcony was that it might make people seated there feel disconnected. The design solution was to connect the balcony to the main floor through terraced seating. To help create the audible connection, we elevated the balcony and included a slope which allows unobstructed sound coverage from the main speakers rather than using under balcony speakers.
Worship is blended to contemporary. With a high-energy praise band and strong choir, we had to separate the choir from the band to prevent spillover into the choir mics. The first row of the choir is 7 feet above the platform and with a 3 foot modesty wall. This gave us 10 feet of absorptive wall space to help isolate the musicians.
The sound system is a high quality mono system with 3 main clusters, front fills and subbass. Image magnification (IMAG) video on 12x16 foot screens supports the visual connection to the stage.
