La Croix United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau, Missouri has an emphasis on the arts as part of worship. The church wanted a space that would be one part worship center, one part performing arts center.
The music style of worship is current and varied, but it isn’t uncommon for the church to also incorporate classic hymns of faith. In addition to the music program, the room needed to accommodate a connected preaching style, drama, original videos and dance.
Acoustic Dimensions worked with the design team to come up with a core room concept that would integrate acoustics and performance technologies while creating a sense of connection within the space. In addition, the room is visually scalable so that it can be used for both small and large groups of people.
AD designed ceiling elements for congregational worship that will be integrated as funds become available, and the technologies were designed with an emphasis on infrastructure so that they can be easily upgraded as the church grows.
