Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church has a vision for ancient future worship—participatory and passionate. In designing for the new worship center at OMPC, there was a great respect for symbology and tradition. The room has a combination of modern and traditional elements including pewseats that fold up like individual theatre seats but have a continuous back for the traditional aesthetic.
The church had a fixed budget and we worked very closely with them to get the right gear without investing in more than what they needed. We recommended that the a/v contractor build projection cones out of fabric rather than constructing the typical room with walls, supports and a floor. Though a digital console was used, it is a high-performing, affordable model. Video cueing of the worship team is accomplished with a simple projection onto the rear wall. Lighting is a mixture of conventional and motorized fixtures. The motorized fixtures are used to change color and create looks to impact the mood of the service.
