The Refinery
When Saddleback decided to add a youth worship facility to their campus, they wanted a facility that would serve young people in their church, as well as the community. With a theatre, multipurpose room, courtyard, half-court basketball, classrooms, deli, cafe, restaurant, sand volleyball court, skate park and campfires, The Refinery has been designed to be a destination for everyone to enjoy.
The 800-seat auditorium was designed to create different experiences depending on where you are in the space and to be visually scalable with three distinct types of seating areas. The flat floor multipurpose room has a wall that opens to an outdoor amphitheatre to be used for musical performance.
Saddleback Development Company provided the initial Sketch Up model for the Student Zone project. AD provided the visual fly through, that was used to communicate concepts for the project to user groups and the design team and developed the acoustic design and performance technology design.
