Sevier Heights Baptist Church planned to build for the growth of its congregation in phases. Phase1 is a multipurpose worship space with a flat floor and moveable elements. It was important to the staff that the room look like a sanctuary during the years that it would be used as such, but that it could be easily used for other purposes once the permanent sanctuary was built.

AD provided consulting on acoustics, sound isolation, noise control, sound reinforcement system, video projection, distributed video, basic video production and theatrical lighting systems.

HH Architect's interpretation of the acoustic recommendation for echo-reducing, sound-diffracting and sound-re-directing 'fins' and wall cavities at the rear wall turned out to be a fascinating counterpoint of architecture and light. Ceiling fins were also utilized to assist in allowing the congregation to hear itself, which was one of the church leadership's goals. HH interpreted the recommended ceiling fins as expressed structure.

The sound system is a center cluster supplemented by additional speakers. The speaker cluster is located in front of the pulpit and 24 feet above the platform. Delay speakers were required to cover the rear seating area. They are located on the centerline of the room, approximately half way back. Two subwoofer cavities are located underneath the stage, and front fill speakers assist in providing sound coverage to the first few rows of seats.

Based on the layout of the room and the need for good sightlines, it was decided that two rear projection video screens would be required. The screens are 16 feet wide by 12 feet high. These projectors receive their signal from control equipment housed at the Production Control Booth and routed through a video switcher. The theatrical lighting systems were designed to provide lighting for special productions as well as weekly services.

AD is currently working with the church on Phase 2 of their campus.
