Spanish River sits on a 20-acre campus in Boca Raton, Florida. When planning their new 1,500 seat worship center, it was very important that the room support the production element of the services.
We began our work by meeting with STH Architects and key ministry staff to establish a list of programming priorities. The priorities for Spanish River for the room were: Preaching, Multimedia Presentation, Special Music, and Small Dramatic Presentation. These priorities describe a church whose focus is reaching people who do not normally go to church. A strongly upbeat and exciting presentational-style and very high quality worship service is essential to meet this foundational goal which significantly impacted the ideal acoustical and technical systems environment required to support the worship service.
Our design input focussed on finding the right balance between creating an exciting acoustical environment to support congregational participation and community, without compromising the very high production values.
In order to support the dual needs of a high degree of vocal clarity and very natural sounding music reinforcement, we decided to implement a very sophisticated LCR speaker system. We also provided custom DSP systems programming on the Peavey Media Matrix system to insure even sound coverage and stable imaging of sound to all seats in the room.
