Victory Church in Lakeland, Florida wanted their facility to truly support their unique ministry. AD sat down with the church to outline their priorities for the space before beginning work on the design.

Preaching was considered the top priority, and with additional emphasis on video projection and dramatic presentations it was important that the congregation be physically close to the platform. Good sightlines were an absolute necessity. The original design for this auditorium was a fan shape. We recommended a modified fan to improve acoustics and better meet the programming priorities of the ministry.

There were sound isolation issues as well. With a building site located close to a major highway, and the potential of frequent Florida rainstorms, it was important that recommendations for the roof and exterior walls be made to attenuate noise caused by these factors.

The design of the seating area was driven by the desire for a visual sense of community in the space. Seats that cascade directly onto the platform provide connectivity between the congregation, the pastor, and the choir. We worked with the architect to develop a shape for the auditorium which supported the acoustic goals for preaching and worship and the goal of visual community with the sightlines. Sightlines were determined and checked visually using computer generated models before a single pew was ordered.

The audio system is a left/center/right system designed to provide strong support for both speech and music.
